The pioneers in the smartwatch sector - Garmin Fenix 7 and Epix

Garmin already has many years of experience in the field of smartwatches. However, the previous Fenix series always had one shortcoming; input was exclusively via the buttons on the edge of the case. - With the new Fenix 7 and the Epix (2nd generation), Garmin has installed touchscreens in the models for the first time, which make operation and handling much easier.

The Epix also has an AMOLED display, which is characterized by rich and vivid colors compared to the conventional LED display.

Of course, advocates of input via the buttons need not worry. Touch input is just an additional option and the familiar buttons have been retained.

New functions support the solid foundation

In terms of functionality, Garmin has been at the top of the smartwatch market for quite some time. In addition to the countless fitness modes, in which the calories burned are calculated in real time or the everyday functions such as an inactivity reminder, Garmin is now introducing a new, optimized heart rate sensor. This works even more precisely than its predecessor and enables life-saving functions. For example, the smartwatch can detect a stroke and send an ambulance to the current location.

There is also a new Power Sapphire Glass
with a solar charging lens to extend battery life and Multi Band GPS technology for improved GPS accuracy.

But that's not all. The new Stamina function from Garmin analyzes running and cycling activities and calculates the available residual energy in real time. In this way, overexertion can be avoided to prevent muscular ailments, for example. With the EPIX, the Amoled display enables the so-called AOD (Always On Display) function. This means that the screen is continuously activated and the measured data can always be called up without any detours.

In smartwatch mode, the new Garmin watches have a battery life of up to 28 days, depending on the model. The models with solar cells even last up to 37 days. The EPIX also lasts an impressive 16 days. Even in Always On mode, the smart display can be used for up to five days at a time.

So if you are looking for a smartwatch and really want the best of the best, there is no way around the new Garmin models. The huge range of functions with the enormous battery life is currently unrivaled on the smartwatch market.
