Premiere at Casio: The first mechanical watch - sporty, precise, surprisingly different

It is undisputed that Casio can do watches - whether digital classics, high-tech smartwatches or robust outdoor companions. But now the Japanese manufacturer is breaking new ground: with the new Casio Edifice EFK-100, Casio is presenting a mechanical automatic watch for the first time. And it makes you sit up and take notice - with a striking motorsport design, high-quality materials and a convincing price-performance ratio.

Mechanics instead of modules: Casio opens a new chapter
The step into the world of mechanical watches did not come overnight. Rather, it is the result of years of market observation and careful strategic planning. According to Casio, the new model is deliberately aimed at a growing target group of young watch fans who are enthusiastic about the classic art of watchmaking, tangible mechanics and durable technology.

Edifice EFK-100: technology meets dynamics

As the stage for the first mechanical watch, the choice fell on the sporty Edifice series - Casio's flagship for performance, technology and motorsport design. The new model remains true to this DNA, but at the same time sets new accents:

Forged carbon for case elements - familiar from motorsport
Sapphire crystal with high scratch resistance

  • NH35 automatic movement with manual winding, stop seconds and 40-hour power reserve
  • Water-resistant to 10 bar - suitable for everyday use and sporty
  • Reliable caliber - clear focus on quality

Casio does not rely on its own in-house caliber for the movement, but on proven technology: the NH35 from TMI (Seiko Group) is considered robust, precise and easy to maintain worldwide. A clever move that makes it easier to get to grips with mechanics - both for Casio as a manufacturer and for curious watch buyers. The movement can be admired through a visible glass back - an extra that is anything but a matter of course in this price range.

Personal impression: A successful debut with real potential
As a watch expert, I have been following Casio's development for many years. The EFK-100 really surprised me. It shows that Casio can not only think digitally, but also has a knack for mechanics, choice of materials and emotion. I find the combination of a sporty look with a tangible mechanical soul particularly successful - this is exactly what makes watches more than just timepieces.

The use of forged carbon, the solid workmanship and the open concept of using a proven movement instead of developing everything in-house by hook or by crook - that is honest, well thought-out and customer-oriented. Anyone looking to enter the world of mechanical watches will find an exciting, modern model with character here - and at a very attractive price.
