The history of Union Glashütte goes back to 1893, when the merchant Johannes Dürrstein founded the Glashütte Union watch factory in Saxony. His vision was to create watches "that have everything that makes them precise and beautiful, but nothing that makes them more expensive".
For Union Glashütte's 1893 watch line, the year in which the traditional watch manufactory was founded was the year, that gave its name to the company. The company wants to keep alive memories of the founding of the company and has created very special watches accordingly.
The 1893 large second makes the hearts of classic watch lovers beat faster. This is due not least to the special design of the dial, which is available in either silver or anthracite. The anti-reflective sapphire crystal, curved on both sides, underlines this special feature.
The large second is placed to the right of the 3 and the main dial has been indented to the left to perfectly showcase the arrangement.
The 1893 small second uses an asymmetrical arrangement where the small second is placed at 7. The Roman numerals and the fine embossing of the dials also create a special effect.
