The German watch brand Iron Annie has taken an almost 90 year old airplane as its model. The flying machine Junkers Ju 52/3m, used as eponym and inspiration of the brand, has been flying in the air all over the world since 1932. Today the "D-AQUI" is the only still certified aircraft of this legendary type. Because of the concise corrugated iron planking the model got the nickname "Iron Annie" in the USA, which is still common today.
The Iron Annie Wellblech collection embodies the most striking feature of the D-AQUI. As the series name already reveals, the corrugated sheets used on the aircraft were recorded here in the form of a structured dial. This unique design gives the watches in this collection an unmistakable look, that could not have embodied the flying model of the watch brand better. The hands and numerals of the models are also reminiscent of the instruments of the flying machine, complementing the appearance of this series.
